TALENT hits a target no one else can hit; genius hits a target no one else can see.                ARTHUR SCHOPENHAUER

ALL OF US do not have equal talent, but all of us should have an equal opportunity to develop our talent.       JOHN F. KENNEDY

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS GREAT TALENT WITHOUT GREAT WILL POWER.          HONORE de BALZAC

ADVERSITY has the effect of eliciting talents which, in prosperous circumstances, would have lain dormant.          HORACE

MARGUERITE GARDNER  1789-1849  Countess of Blesington.

GENIUS is the gold in the mine, talent is the miner who works and brings it out.

PREJUDICES  are the chains forged by ignorance to keep men apart.

HAPPINESS consists not in having much, but in being content with little.

TEARS may be dried up, but the heart — never.

IN FRANCE, a woman may forget that she in neither young nor handsome; for the absence of these claims to attention does not expose her to be neglected by the male sex.

SUPERSTITION is only the fear of belief, while religion is the confidence.

TALENT, like beauty, to be pardoned, must be obscure and unostentatious.

KIN HUBBARD 1868- 1930  CARTOONIST.     “ABE MARTIN”.

FUN is like insurance, the older you get, the more it costs.

OF ALL THE HOME REMEDIES, A GOOD WIFE IS THE BEST.

ALL THE WORLD LOVES A GOOD LOSER.

NOW AND THEN  an innocoent man is sent to the legislature.

NO WOMAN can be handsome by the force of features alone, any more than she can be witty by only the help of speech.

IF there’s anything a public servant hates to do it’s something for the public.

NOBODY CAN BE AS AGREEABLE AS AN UNINVITED GUEST.

IT’S WHAT A FELLOW THINKS HE KNOWS THAT HURTS HIM.

JESSE KELLERMAN  NOVELIST  1978″The Genius” “The Burning”

ALL MY BOOKS deal with effect of intent upon action, how understanding of good and evil depends heavily on context.

TRAGEDY without comedy is melodrama and comedy without a higher purpose is vacant.

ART REQUIRES CHOICES, THE MORE SPECIFIC, THE BETTER.

IN GENERAL, THE HUMAN RACE IS STILL A YOUNG ORGANISM.

LEONARD SLATKIN  1944—CONDUCTOR

WE NEED MUSIC TO RESTORE THE HUMAN SPIRIT.

IN SOME WAYS I BELIEVE MUSIC is the more convincing communicator of ideas than words. For instance, we can hear of Kordaly and Bartok and recognize them as Hungarian, but very few of us speak Hungarian, but the music itself speaks to more people.

ON THE CCORNER OF 57TH AND 7TH AVENUE sits the most famous concert hall in the world. no less a figure than when Tchaikovsky led the first performances in 1891. Virtually every major artist has performed there. There is simply no place like it.

RANDY NEWMAN and I grew up together in Los Angeles. We are both products of the film studio era. Randy is one of the great songwriters of our time and one of the fun people to be with.

ULTIMATELY, MUSIC IS A POSSESSIVE MISTRESS.

I USE MY HANDS like a sculptor and shape the sound I want, to clarify.

EDGAR RICE BURROUGHS 1875-1950       “TARZAN”
WHEN TARZAN KILLED he more often smiled than scowled and smiles are the foundation of beauty.

if I had followed my better judgment always, my life would have been a very dull one.

IMAGINATION IS BUT ANOTHER NAME FOR SUPER INTELLIGENCE.

YOU ARE HERE FOR BUT AN INSTANT AND YOU MUSTN’T TAKE YOURSELF TOO SERIOUSLY.

I HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFUL probably because I have always realized that I knew nothing about writing and have merely tried to tell an interesting story.

NO FICTION is worth reading except for entertainment. If it entertains and is clean, it is good literature, or its kind. If it forms the habit of reading, in people who might not read otherwise, it is the beat literature.

THE MORE ONE LISTENS to ordinary conversations the more apparent it becomes that the reasoning faculties of the brain take little part in the direction of the vocal organs.

                          GOLF IS A MENTAL DISORDER.

           EVEN THEORIES MUST HAVE FOUNDATIONS.

AM I ALIVE AND A REALITY OR AM I BUT A DREAM?

THE TIME HAS ARRIVED when patience becomes a crime and mayhem appears garbled in a manner of virtue.

I have discovered that the world over, unusual wether prevails at all times of the year.

LOVE IS A STRANGE MASTER, and human nature is still stranger.

SUBCONSCIOUS MINDS ARE NO LESS FALLIBLE THAN THE OBJECTIVE MIND.
