BIRTHDAYS–ROBERT M. PERSIG, TONY DITERLIZZI–PLUS–MAXIME LAGACE

IT IS NEVER TOO LATE TO REINVENT YOURSELF. START  A NEW career at 40. Fall in love at 50. Learn to dance at 60. Start a whole new life at 70. Stop saying you can’t. You can and you should. Dreams don’t have an expiration date. Life begins at 80.

Younger I didn’t appreciate being alive–not my authentic self. L.D.

YOUR EGO IS NOT READY TO FORGIVE, BUT YOUR SOUL IS.
THE EGO wants to go fast. The soul needs to go slow.
                               REMAIN UNDISTURBED.
IF you want peace, accept. If you want suffering, expect.
                     FOOLS READ FAST. GENIUSES REREAD.
THE WISEST person in the world is the one who is indifferent to praise and criticism.
WISDOM STARTS when you realize reality is not against you.
THE first sign of intelligence is curiosity. The second is staying calm. the third helping others.
AIM for something higher than yourself. Plants grow toward the sun. Humans grow toward their goals.
DOING something for yourself gives motivation but doing something for others gives meaning.
                      FOOLS IMPOSE. THE WISE INSPIRE.
Self-knowledge will bring you calm. with calm, you’l do thje right thing.
MAXIME LAGACE  “Life as We know It”

ROBERT M. PIRSIG  1928-2017 “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance”

THE PAST EXISTS only in our memories, the future only in our plans. The present is our only reality.

THE PLACE TO IMPROVE THE WORLD IS FIRST IN ONE’S OWN HEART AND HEAD AND HANDS.

EVERY ANSWER one finds leads to ten more questions. The more we learn the less we know.

IS IT HARD? Not if you have the right attitude, It’s having the right attitude that’s hard.

THE REAL PURPOSE of the scientific method is to make sure nature hasn’t misled you into thinking you know something you actually don’t know.

ART IS AN THE THING YOU CAN DO WELL. ANYTHING YOU CAN DO WITH QUALLITY.

THE only Zen you can find on. the tops of mountains is the Zen you bring up there.

SOMETIMES IT’S A LITTLE BETTER TO TRAVEL THAN ARRIVE.

WHEN you want to hurry something, that means you no longer care about it and want to get on to other things.

IN THE HIGH COUNTRY OF THE MIND one has to become adjusted to the thinner air of uncertainty.

THE BEST STUDENTS always are flunking. Every good teacher knows that.

WHEN YOU LIVE IN THE SHADOW OF INSANITY, the appearance of another mind that thinks and talks as yours does is something close to a blessed event.

WE KEEP PASSING UNSEEN THROUGH LITTLE MOMENTS OF OTHER PEOPLE’S LIVES.

ONE of the most moral acts is to create a space in which life can move forward.

THE TRUTH knocks on the door and you say, go away, I’m looking for the truth, and it goes away. Puzzling.

EVEN THOUGH QUALITY CANNOT BE DEFINED, YOU KNOW WHAT QUALITY IS.

TONY DITERLIZZI    1969——                        ARTIST

ILLUSTRATIONS can be a big window: a looking glass into the author’s imagination.

IF you want beautiful moments to shine, you have to contrast that with dark and gruesome moments. That’s the way life is.

                                NEVER ABANDON IMAGINATION.

DESPITE what you hear and say there will always be that one voice that will always be true to you.

BUT OUR KNOWLEDGE, the things we learn, can carry on in others after we are gone . . . the toil of this journey, our journey, is the map for those who will follow.

                           NO LIVING THING IS INSIGNIFICANT.

YOU MUST SOMETIMES disregard what someone is saying and focus instead on what they are doing. Watch and observe. That is when one reveals his true self.

SURE, I eat because I have to. but I also eat because I want to. It is one of life’s few pleasures.

                              CLEVER IS AS CLEVER DOES.

HAVING A FAMILY that loves books and loves to read has always created a common ground for communication.

                                    FAITH, HOPE, CHARITY . . .
