CARL ROGERS, ALEXANDER KOTOV–BIRTHDAYS–JAN.8, 2024–PLUS–CORDELL JACKSON.

CORDELL JACKSON: ELDER STATESWOMAN OF ROCK ‘N’ ROLL
“SHE WAS COMFORTABLE IN HER OWN SKIN.”
“I’VE FOUND that the faster I play, the more accurate I become.”
“I’VE never been confused about what I was supposed to do while I was down here. If I think of it, I do it.”

ALEXANDER KOTOV 1913-1981. “THINK LIKE A GRANDMASTER”.

DRAWING CONCLUSIONS about your main weaknesses can provide a great stimulus to further growth.

IT IS BETTER to follow out a plan consistently even if it isn’t the best one than to play without a plan at all. The worst thing is to wander about aimlessly.

                                    TIME TROUBLE IS BLUNDER TIME.

IT HAS ALWAYS been recognized that chess is an art and its best practitioners have been described as artists.

CARL ROGERS 1902-1987—“On Becoming A Person”On Personal Power”.
A PERSON cannot teach another person directly; a person can only facilitate another’s learning.

AS no one else can know how we perceive, we are the best experts on ourselves.

WHEN the other person is hurting, confused, troubled, anxious, alienated, terrified; or when he or she is doubtful of self-worth, uncertain as to identity, then understanding is called for. The gentle and sensitive companionship of an empathic stance . . . provides illumination and healing. In such situations deep understanding is, I believe, the most precious gift one can give to another.
